Here are a few tips on how to improve a crunched or dented bubble.

We will be making a video soon to demonstrate this process. Post your questions now so we can address them when we make the video.

Things you’ll need: 1) A hairdryer! and 2) Scotch Tape (optional)

There are varying degrees of bubble dents. Some are minor crinkles and some are so drastic the plastic itself turns white from the stress. While the extreme bends that have turned white are very hard to do much about, for the rest there is hope to at least improve upon the bubble for a nicer looking display.

The concept is simple. If you push on the bubble stronger than the strength of the bubble, it’s going to bend. This is how bubbles get damaged in the first place, but this is also how they can be corrected. The trick is also simple: Make the plastic soft by heating it up to make it easy to manipulate.

Take a hair dryer on high heat but medium speed, softened the bubble just slightly by heating it up just a little. We’re not trying to melt the plastic! Just get it warm to the touch. In the area you are trying to straighten, hold the bubble down firm against the cardback (to avoid accidentally separating the bubble from the cardback), then gently start lifting the top of the bubble and working out the dents with your fingers. Gently rub the edges to try to make them flat again. This process can be repeated on bubbles that are worse than others, just heat it up again, and keep working on it until it flattens out.

If there’s a dent that is too deep to grab, one trick is to grab it with tape and lift the tape. By folding a piece of tape in half except for just the ends, stick the ends and pull the folded part up like a handle.

Here’s the result! You’ll notice it’s not perfect, but a HUGE improvement, and makes for a much better display.

While we don’t make cases specifically for the short card Super Powers at this time, they display great side by side inside a regular Super Powers case, not to mention fits in nicely in your display with the other figures in the same cases. Take a look at this band of miscarded misfits!
